ABOUT THE ARTIST
22-year-old cellist Edgar Moreau has won many awards, including (at age 17!) the Silver Medal at the Tchaikovsky Competition. An ECHO Rising Star, he performs at such major venues as the Barbican, Concertgebouw and Musikverein. He has performed concertos with such orchestras as the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Brussels Philharmonic, the Mariinsky Orchestra (under Valery Gergiev) and the Orchestre National de France among many others.
Mr. Moreau is in frequent demand as a chamber musician and he has worked with the Talich, Prazak, Modigliani and Ebene Quartets, violinist Renaud Capuçon and pianist Nicholas Angelich. He has performed at major festivals in Verbier, Edinburgh, Montpellier, Colmar and Evian as well as La Folle Journée in Nantes and Tokyo. He has appeared in chamber music concerts in France, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, the Netherlands and Japan.
His April 12 performance in Walnut Creek will be Edgar Moreau’s first appearance in the Bay Area. His program will feature sonatas by Poulenc, Prokofiev and Franck.
