Florence Gould Theater

seating guide for this theater is HERE

Our series' principal home, the Florence Gould Theater at the Legion of Honor, is a 300-seat jewelbox of a theater with wonderful acoustics. Built in 1924 as the Little Theater, it is the premier small venue in San Francisco for chamber music, having hosted performances in the past by such notable artists as the Budapest String Quartet, the Juilliard String Quartet, the Borodin Quartet, Walter Trampler, Philippe Entremont and the young Yo-Yo Ma.

IMPORTANT

Museum entry is included in your ticket for all daytime concerts (permanent exhibits only).

There is a café (the "Legion Café") in the museum right next to the theater entrance. So for our matinée performances, it is convenient to make a day of it: visit the museum, have lunch, and attend a chamber music concert!

PARKING at the Gould

The parking around the museum will be ample for the evening concerts.

However, for the daytime concerts, parking may be difficult at times, as the museum is a popular one. Therefore, we have made arrangements with the Veteran's Administration Medical Center, located at Clement and 42nd Avenue, for additional parking for our patrons.

The VA Medical Center has very kindly allowed our patrons to park in their lot (map available here). You can then take a short-cut to the Legion of Honor: a five minute walk on a gravel path. Please be aware that this walk is not appropriate for high heels, and involves both an incline and a number of stairs.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION to the Gould
